Summary of Project

Hi!

My name is Nur Fitriyani or you can call me Fitri. I'm 21 years old Indonesian who currently studying in Multimedia University focus on virtual reality, and this is my gamma 1 assignment.

I am to create a VR application that will educate the user on the life cycle of animal (min. 2 level).  I need to choose any animals, design the environment and interaction. This application will help in creating awareness and educating the user on the life cycle of the selected animal. This is an edutainment application so the information given to the user will have to be design visually in highly educative and engaging.

This project will be divided into 2 stages where I will be assessed on Ideation (information) and Creating the environment and interactive application.

Project Learning Objective
  • Application of design theory and elements of experiential design in VR application
  •  Application of user learning style through games (edutainment)
  •  Application of Information visualization through interface
  • Analyze data/information and apply in application
  • Demonstrate skills in creating the environment and to educate the user
So, I'm choosing elephant for my application and this is my project overview:

Project Title:
Elephant Quest

Target Audience:
This application made for kids in age range around 5-10 years old

Objective:
This application give some questions that will educate the player about the body parts and life of the elephant from he was a baby to an adult.

Description:
When the player open the Elephant quest, there will be an opening page that consist the background images, play, learn to play, sound and quit button and also an animal facts button.

Learn to play button have a list of direction on how the player can navigate through the application. Animal facts, contain a facts about the elephant such as the diet, habitat, body parts, and actions of an elephant.

This application have 2 levels, where if the player fails to complete the task then elephant’s life will be reduce. In other hand, if the player success to complete the task, so it will gain the elephant’s life again. In this application, the player can only make a mistake twice.

There will be a short story which explain a brief introduction of what the player should know about the task when the player hit the play button. Player will know what step they have to choose after they read the short story.

Environment will be in a savannah. On the first level, the elephant still a baby and then the interaction will be a pop up question that ask the player about the body part of the elephant. There are two questions, and if the player can answer it correctly then the player can go to the next level. If not, the life of the elephant will reduce and maybe the game will end.

Player need to finish the last quest, the baby elephant already grow up to an adult but he get lost. He have to find a way back to home and player can help him with collect the correct meal for elephant until he reach his home and gather with his family again.

There will be five other characters, they are rhinos, rabbits, giraffes, deers and zebras. This application will give any other information about all the animals and the environment that will pop up when the player click on any animals or plants on there.

The application will have a harmony sound that interpret the savannah place, where these animals live.

Mind Map

For the presentation 1 this week, I am also have to present my mind map. It will consist all information guided by the Elements of Experiential Design or EED of my chosen animal and application detail. The mind map will present the ideas of how the application is going to look like, feel and interact.

This is my mind map, I divided into two pages because I do not have enough space for all of the information.
